Granite countertops are available in a wide range of colors, names and surface finishes. However, the "names" used often don't describe any actual color. This is because granite mining companies generally determine material names. This means they can refer to a mine, to a local food, to a color (in another language), to a country region, a random term, or it may be "borrowed" from other stone and quartz suppliers. Needless to say, this is all very frustrating!

To make granite countertop color selection easier, remember that ALL granite countertops fall into 10 general color chart categories; black, white, gray, beige, brown, burgundy, red, yellow, green and blue. Thus, by knowing in advance what color category (or categories) you want, you'll be able to find your ideal material coloration and finish regardless of what name it may have.
